June is Pride Month, worldwide recognition and awareness of issues facing the LGBTQ+ community. A local organization is focusing its efforts on the health and wellbeing of all local youth.
F.R. Pride is dedicated to providing education and resources for LGBTQ+ youth across the Southcoast. Co-founder Attorney Karina Valencia says one of the biggest obstacles facing LGBTQ+ youth is access to appropriate healthcare.
The organization has had to make some changes in its Pride Month events programming. According to Valencia and co-founder Nikita Santiago, it’s in respect and deference to the current dialogue within the black community around the death of George Floyd.
The organization is still planning to hold its 2nd annual Drag Queen Story Hour sometime later this month.
