Proponents for a new BMC Durfee High School were thrilled with the end results of the March 6th special election when it was determined the majority of voters agreed to override a Proposition Two and a Half/Debt Exclusion to help pay for a new Durfee High School. While voter turnout was low at 16.6 percent, the results showed that the majority of residents agreed to the override even though it means they will pay more taxes to help the city pay for it’s share of the $263 million dollar project. Parent and former school committee candidate Kristin Gauvin was especially excited about the yes vote despite low voter turnout:
