Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School will be looking for a new principal. Assistant Superintendent/Principal Andrew Rebello has resigned and will become Assistant Superintendent at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School in Taunton.
Mr. Rebello will remain on board as the school enters the new year next Wednesday. He plans to start his new position on September 9.
Mr. Rebello said it was a difficult decision to leave Diman but one he felt he needed to make for his future.
Mr. Rebello worked his way up the leadership ranks at Diman, starting as a guidance counselor, advancing as an assistant principal, then principal. Diman Superintendent Director Brian Bentley said he respects Mr. Rebello’s reasons for moving on.
Mr. Bentley said he and Assistant Principal of Student Services Michael Zajac will split the duties as principal.
Mr. Bentley said the job opening will be posted as early as next week with the hope that a permanent principal will be appointed in four to six weeks.
During his four years as principal, Mr. Rebello was named principal of the year by the Massachusetts School Administrators Association and received the prestigious Milken Educator Award, a national recognition of elite educators across the United States. Diman has also been recognized as one of best high schools in the country by US News and World Report.
He said the accolades deserve to go to the school’s teachers and students.
