The Day of Portugal is a holiday usually just celebrated in that country on June 10th. But because of the cultural heritage involved, festivities will abound this coming weekend right here in Fall River June 17th-19th.
According to members of the Fall River Day of Portugal Committee, the ceremonies will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a flag raising event at the Gates of the City on Ponta Delagada Boulevard. The Portuguese Kids, a comedy troupe, is set to perform at 7:30 p.m. followed by multiple international musical acts, including local singer Manuel do DAlma, & Canadian Award winning Eclectic Pop rock Bank Menage.
In addition, there will be traditional foods, and other activities, including soccer games with LED screens for viewing pleasure on Saturday. It is estimated that some 20 thousand people will show up at the three day long event.
