Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia is calling for a joint meeting of the city council and school committee this Thursday, April 11th. The purpose is to review the fiscal and financial condition of the city, revenue and expense forecasts, and other relevant information to assist in the development of the Fiscal Year 2020 budget. The presentation will “provide financial parameters” for FY 2020 “as opposed to firm, budgetary numbers.
The mayor says he has included the status of the Fiscal Year 2019 budget as “it reflects the current, fiscal and financial condition of the City”. The final FY 2020 budget is expected to be delivered to the City Council no later than May 15th.
In a letter to the council and school committee, the mayor states: “Given the nature of our budgetary process, some questions regarding the FY 2020 Budget cannot be definitively answered at this time.”
Mayor Correia has asked that all questions regarding the proposed budget be forwarded to the Finance Team by 5 pm today (April 9) to give his administration time to gather relevant data and address the questions during the scheduled presentation. There will be no new questions allowed during or following, the presentation.
The joint meeting is being called pursuant to the City Charter. The meeting will take place at Government Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
