The Fall River City Council wants to take a closer look at an investigation three years ago that resulted in the termination of former Department of Community Maintenance Director John Perry.

Mr. Perry was let go in 2022 following an investigation into allegations of improprieties, misconduct, and abuse of power during his tenure with the city. An independent investigative report, re-released this week by the Fall River Reporter, brought to the surface details of the allegations.

City councilor Cliff Ponte says he wants local, state, and federal authorities to expand the investigation to determine if any laws were broken and why the city did not expand its inquiry.

Mr. Perry was dismissed and given a severance payment of over $60,000. Mayor Paul Coogan, who requested the investigation into Mr. Perry’s actions, says the city did its due diligence to uncover any wrongdoing.
