Three objections from Fall River City Councilor Steven Camara last night stopped a vote to temporarily remove Mayor Jasiel Correia from office. Council chambers were packed as discussion focused on the mayor’s effectiveness to serve in light of the 13-count federal indictment lodged against him. Camara said it was not the council’s place to take drastic action, calling the motion by Councilor Shawn Cadime to remove the mayor a reaction to “mob mentality.” Here’s what Council President Cliff Ponte had to say:
