The Fall River Finance Subcommittee has a heavy agenda when it meets at Government Center tonight. There will be a discussion with Community Development officials regarded the Section 108 Loan Application needed to purchase new apparatus for the first department. Mayor Correia plans to officially submit a resolution at tonight’s meet that would authorize submission of the application to the U.S. Department of Housing and urban Development. According to a correspondence from the mayor the resolution is being submitted at this time in order to provide adequate review time prior to City Council consideration.
In addition, the subcommittee will consider a letter previously submitted the School Department’s Chief Financial Officer informing them of an approximately $500 thousand dollar projected shortfall for fiscal year 2016. The shortfall is due to School Transportation appropriation issues.
A letter sent to council members last month discusses the reasons for increased transportation costs and offers two ways in which the money can be made up.
