Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan has declared a State of Emergency with Government Center closed to the public through March 27.
Among the other announcement made by the mayor today:
- Parks and open spaces will be open but all playgrounds will be closed until April 6.
- All Libraries and senior centers closed until April 6.
- All public safety officers will continue to work without interruption.
- City departments will be out enforcing Governor Baker’s prohibition on gatherings over 25 people.
- Restaurants, bars or clubs in violation of the governor’s prohibition will have their licenses suspended immediately.
- All city council meetings canceled for the next two weeks.
- Only essential board meetings will be held until further notice
- Despite Government Center being closed, City employees will report to work as scheduled.
- City inspectors will only be conducting inspections in private homes in emergency situations.
