Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan has declared a State of Emergency with Government Center closed to the public through March 27.

Among the other announcement made by the mayor today:

  • Parks and open spaces will be open but all playgrounds will be closed until April 6.
  • All Libraries and senior centers closed until April 6.
  • All public safety officers will continue to work without interruption.
  • City departments will be out enforcing Governor Baker’s prohibition on gatherings over 25 people.
  • Restaurants, bars or clubs in violation of the governor’s prohibition will have their licenses suspended immediately.
  • All city council meetings canceled for the next two weeks.
  • Only essential board meetings will be held until further notice
  • Despite Government Center being closed, City employees will report to work as scheduled.
  • City inspectors will only be conducting inspections in private homes in emergency situations.
