The area’s Congressional delegation last week toured the future site of Bristol Community College’s National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) on New Bedford’s waterfront.
Bristol President Dr. Laura Douglas says the 30,000 square foot facility will be the center of training and recertifying employees for the growing offshore wind industry.
Senator Edward Markey, who has been a champion for the expansion of clean energy resources, said the Bristol program will support the growth of thousands of local jobs.
The construction of the institute is expected to be complete in the summer of 2022.
