The Bristol Community College theatre program is opening its auditions to the public.

From Bristol Community College:

Calling all students and actors! Bristol Community College’s upcoming 2019-2020 productions welcome all to audition for exciting roles. Auditions are open to the public.

Auditions will take place on Monday, September 9; Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., in room H128, in the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center (H building) on the Bristol Fall River Campus, 777 Elsbree Street.

Audition material will be provided, or actors are invited to present a prepared monologue. The upcoming auditions will primarily focus on the fall production of An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe, in which Bristol will create an original piece of theatre examining the themes, characters and situations of one of America’s greatest writers. Actor’s resumes will be kept on file to be considered for future castings.

Bristol’s upcoming theatre productions also include the classic play Our Town, about life in a small New England town and how there is more to everyday life than what we choose to see; Canfield Drive, a play written and gathered by Kristen Adele Calhoun and Michael Thomas Walker, exploring how bias and institutional racism cause corruption; original pieces of theatre and more!

Bristol’s new theatre program is an Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts & Sciences that provides hands-on training and experience, allowing students to learn and refine their craft as they perform. Students can smoothly transfer to a four-year institution or seek work in the performing arts. In addition to teaching history, literature and art, studying theatre also provides interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
