Two members of the College Communications office at Bristol Community College received top honors for professional achievement from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) at the organization’s district conference in Hershey, PA, this month.
The department also brought back six awards for excellence for projects from the 2014-15 academic year.
Sally Chapman Cameron, Vice President of College Communications, was named Communicator of the Year, one of the organization’s most prestigious awards presented to an NCMPR member.
The award recognizes “a two-year college marketing, public relations, or communications professional who has demonstrated leadership or ability in the area of college communications and marketing.” Ms. Cameron was recognized for her passion and commitment to community colleges throughout her 30 year career at Bristol, as well as for her leadership in creating a robust, integrated marketing and communication effort for the College.
Patrick Stone, Associate Director for Marketing and Communications, was named Rising Star, which recognizes an up-and-coming communications professional at a two-year community or technical college.
The award, according to NCMPR, goes to an individual who “has demonstrated special creativity or ability in college marketing, public relations, and communications and shows evidence of a promising future in this field of work.” Patrick was recognized for his work in developing and promoting a new athletic mascot and for a number of other communications programs strengthened the brand experience on the College’s campuses.
