Closing arguments in the first degree murder trial of a Fall River man suspected of killing another man during a drug transaction are being heard this week in Fall River Superior Court.

Prosecutors claim that 47 year old Hirman Gonzalez shot 24 year old Brian Januario in March of 2011 after the two met for a drug deal. The defendant is then reported to have taken his vehicle to a car wash to clean away the victim’s blood.

Allegedly Gonzalez told his sister hours before the shooting that he was desperate for money to support his heroin habit and planned to rob someone.

While the defense admits Gonzalez was present the day of the murder, another drug dealer killed Januario, because Januario had robbed him and then bragged about it.

Despite the suspect taking his vehicle to a car wash, the victim’s blood was found in Gonzalez’s car.
