For nearly 30 years, Greater Fall River RE-CREATION has sponsored a summer lunch program across Fall River. providing kids under the age of 18 a free meal at locations across the city.
Ms. Gerling says the program has evolved in recent years but still connects kids with nutritious food.
The Fall River Housing Authority also hosts the summer lunch program at five housing developments, continuing a 20-year partnership with Greater Fall River RE-CREATION.
The program is funded through a grant from the US Department of Agriculture and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Support is provided by the City of Fall River and the Fall River School Department.
