The City of Fall River yesterday held a flag-raising ceremony in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
The ceremony recognized the countries with the largest representation of Fall River residents: China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, and Vietnam. Several members of the local Asian American and Pacific Islander spoke during the event. Jessica Wong of the Massachusetts Asian American Commission and member of the city diversity committee celebrated the contributions of local Asian Americans while recognizing the stigmas and obstacles they still face.
David Nguyen, owner of U.S. Bedding in Fall River spoke of his appreciation of how the city has embraced the growth of his business.
