The Coogan Administration is developing its FY 2026 budget that will take effect on July 1. The city is slated to face a steep increase in its assessment to pay for the new Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Based on the budget approved by the Diman school committee last month, the city’s portion of construction costs next year will rise from just over $600,000 to $4.5 million

Diman Superintendent Director Brian Bentley says the school continues to have an open dialogue with the four communities within the district on how much each needs to contribute to the project.

Mayor Paul Coogan says the city is planning to meet its financial obligation for the project.

Mr. Bentley says the construction project remains on time and on budget, with the anticipated opening in the fall of 2026.

The Diman operating budget approved for next year will be $33.6 million, a $1.2 million increase over this year.

Recently the school received news that it will lose $115,000 in federal funding from cuts within the Department of Education.
