Launch of Online Licensing & Permitting Platform

(FALL RIVER, MA- NOVERMBER 2, 2023)- On November 1st, 2023, the City of Fall River launched an online licensing and permitting platform through the help of ARPA funding to simplify the way in which businesses and individuals obtain and fill out permits required for certain city operations. This platform can be found on the homepage of the new city website (fallriverma.gov) under ‘Permit Portal.’ The digital access to this platform allows for enhanced convenience to users since is it accessible via a mobile device or computer. It also will aid in reducing the use of paper and increase overall efficiency in city departments.

To date, permits are available on this portal for two city departments: The City of Fall River’s Building Department and the City of Fall River’s Engineering & Planning Department. In the near future, other city departments will be added to the platform and their permits will also be available online.

The City of Fall River’s Information Technology Department worked closely with OpenGov, a cloud government software company that specializes in helping municipalities create digital convenience for its residents to create this online permit platform. This partnership will continue as updates are continuously made to the portal to ensure efficiency.

There are several city employees who played a key role in helping with the set-up of the platform:

· Tyler Antaya- IT Department

· George Valton- IT Department

· Chris Parayno- Planning Department

· Terry Sullivan Jr. – Engineering Department

· Glenn Hathaway- Building Department

· Brenda Beaudry- Building Department

· Ian Schachne- City Collector
