Veteran Fall River City Councilor Steve Camara, who was re-elected to office in the last election, is approximately $76 hundred dollars in mortgage arrears on two properties he owns: 286 and 291 Pine Street. According to an article in the Herald News today, September 2nd, Camara failed to make the payments in June, July, & August, contributing to the fact he has not received rent payments from two tenants.
Camara claims he is experiencing a cash flow problem in our economically depressed area by his inability to collect the rents owed to him. The Herald obtained the latest information after submitting a Freedom of Information request to the city’s Community Development Agency, which awarded Camara a Federal Rehabilitation Loan years ago in connection with property he acquired.
To date the CDA has not started the foreclosure process on the Pine Street properties, which was stopped once before last December, when Camara failed to mortgage payments on the same tenements but then came up with the cash.
