This week the Fall River City Council took up the issue of responding to the petition to recall Mayor Jasiel Correia. Here’s what some residents had to say during citizens input time concerning a possible recall election. The first comment was made by recall member Dawn Charette, and the second from resident Nelson Vasquez:
During the meeting, an attorney for Mayor Correia presented the council with a list of objections to the recall process and asked the council not to move the matter forward. Despite the letter of objection, the council voted unanimously to give the mayor five days to resign as outlined by the recall provision in the city charter.
Mayor Correia is expected to state his objections to the recall process before the Board of Elections at a meeting later today.
