The City of Fall River today showcased new equipment purchased for the Department of Community Maintenance (DCM) and the Department of Community Utilities with money provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)
DCM is the recipient of two new street sweepers, that will be put into service right away, with an eye toward ensuring streets and storm drains remain free of debris.
The city is expected to receive a third street sweeper, which includes a vacuum, in the near future. The cost of the three sweepers is approximately $950,000.
The city also invested in an infrared, hotbox paving machine that will aid in the repair of streets.
The city also announced that it will be adding back 24-hour emergency medical services to the Maplewood neighborhood without impacting service to the rest of the city.
