During yesterday’s free drive-in family movie at Durfee High School, the city, in conjunction with Senator Michael Rodrigues and Greater Fall River RE-CREATION,  announced that additional movies will be held on a monthly basis through September.

5 Additional Movies Announced in 2021 Drive-In Series

(Fall River, MA- April 24, 2021)- Mayor Paul Coogan, Senator Michael Rodrigues and Greater Fall River Re-Creation are pleased to announce that the Drive-In at Durfee High School held on April 24th was the first of a six-part movie series. The additional dates and movies were announced at Saturday’s Drive-In and are as follows:

• May 21st- Grease (Durfee High School)
• June 19th- Jumanji (Durfee High School)
• July 30th- Jurassic Park (Location TBD)
• August 27th- Black Panther (Location TBD)
• September 24th- Despicable Me (Location TBD)

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Senator Michael Rodrigues’ Office, all of the 2021 Fall River Drive-In Series will be free of charge. Visitors will be required to obtain tickets for each event. Tickets for each movie will become available on the first day of every month. Tickets can be obtained either online through Eventbrite or in person at City Hall and the Re-Creation Office at 45 Rock St. While the May and June events will be held at Durfee High School, alternative venues are being explored across the City for the July, August and September dates.

“Last year we held two drive-ins at Durfee High School and got amazing feedback from the community,” remarked Mayor Paul Coogan. “We knew that drive-ins were something we could rely on and expand. I am thrilled that we can bring six movies to the community, free of charge thanks to the generosity of Senator Rodrigues. There is a need for community events like these right now and I look forward to a summer of fun with Fall River families.”

“I am proud to help present this series of free community events that offer a great night of entertainment to Fall River’s families,” said Senator Michael Rodrigues. “Thank you to Mayor Coogan and Re-Creation for organizing this wonderful series.” The Mayor’s Office and Re-Creation have been collaborating with community groups and arts organizations to bring additional activities and attractions to the movies. Food trucks will be invited to future events. Residents should stay tuned to the City of Fall River Facebook Page for details about the upcoming drive-ins.

At the April 24th event, which showed The Secret Life of Pets, Forever Paws Animal Shelter, the Fall River Children’s Museum, Hidden Hollow Alpaca Farm and multiple costumed children’s characters were on site to interact with guests.

“It’s always an honor to work with Mayor Paul Coogan and the City of Fall River on special city-wide events,” stated Grace Gerling, Executive Director of Greater Fall River Re-Creation. “With the incredible support of The Office of Senator Michael Rodrigues, our citizens are in for a treat at the Drive-In showing a total of 6 blockbuster films throughout the summer. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather responsibly with family and friends.”
