Fall River to Celebrate Earth Day Weekend on April 24th
(Fall River, MA- March 25th, 2021)- Mayor Paul Coogan is excited to announce two Earth Day-themed events on April 24th, 2021. From 10am to 12pm on Saturday, April
24th, the City of Fall River and the Department of Community Maintenance will be leading a community clean-up in Downtown Fall River. All residents are welcome to join. Volunteers are asked to meet at Government Center around 9:45 to pick up equipment and must adhere to Covid-19 safety protocol, including face coverings.
At night on April 24th, the City will kick off its 2021 Drive-in Movie series at Durfee High School with a showing of The Secret Life of Pets. The event will be free, but tickets will be required to enter. Residents may obtain tickets starting April 1st on Eventbrite and in-person at either Re-Creation (located at 45 Rock St) or Government Center. Participants in the clean-up on the morning of April 24th will be guaranteed one ticket per household, regardless of if the event is sold out.
“After a year of isolation, I look forward to these events as one small step towards normalcy,” stated Mayor Coogan. “As we begin to reconnect, I hope we use Earth Day to remember that we all have a role to play in taking care of our planet, our city and our community. These are the first of many clean-ups and events to come this year.”
