Citing Personal Reasons, Councilor Trott Lee Resigns

Fall River City Councilor Trott Lee today resigned noting the need to tend to family matters.

Here is Councilor Lee’s letter of resignation submitted to the city council this morning:

Hello,

Due to family matters, I must submit my letter of resignation to no longer serve on the Fall River City Council effective immediately. I wholeheartedly appreciate everyone who reached out to me regarding the death of my mother, and it has been an honor to represent the city with you. wish the Council all the best in the daunting task of serving our city.

I also want to extend my appreciation to the Mayor’s office and Mr. Aiken, along with the City Clerk’s office. It was an honor to serve with all of you.

Thank you also to the voters who confided in me to serve on the Council for the past two terms, and those who helped me achieve the position.

Trott Lee

Lee was currently serving in his second term as a city councilor.

There is no word as yet as to how the council will fill Lee’s seat.  In the past, the council has filled vacancies by appointing the unelected candidate who collected the most votes in the last election. In the case of last year’s city election that would be former City Councilor Christopher Peckham who finished tenth.
