Fall River residents South of Bedford Street who did not opt out of trash collection can have their Christmas trees picked up curbside this week starting today, Monday January 4th until Saturday, January 9th.
Director of Community Maintenance Ken Pachecco also says, that on Monday, January 11th pickup of discarded trees will take place for all residents living North of Bedford Street.
He estimates that every year, the maintenance department collects approximately 4 thousand discarded trees, which are transported to a company called Site Ready, in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
“That’s where the trees are ground up and turned into mulch,” Pachecco says, adding the trees used to be brought to Crapo Hill Landfill until that facility was shut down.
