Brownell Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between North Court Street and Thompson Street in Fall River beginning today Friday, Sept. 23rd. That from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The approximately one-month closure is necessary to allow for installation of steel beams and deck panels on the railroad bridge over Brownell Street. Brownell and the railroad bridge is located between Davol Street and North Park near President Avenue.
The work to improve rail service is part of the South Coast Rail project for planned commuter service to Boston, and efforts to reach the next stage of permitting for construction, according to MassDOT officials.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during the construction. Detour signs will be evident.
