Bristol Community College will soon be seeking a new leader as President Dr. Laura Douglas this week informed the college’s board of trustees of her intention to retire next January.
The president said deciding to retire was a difficult one but she feels the college is in a strong position to welcome a new leader.
Dr. Douglas says she’s proud of what she has been able to accomplish during her time at Bristol. But nothing as important as removing barriers for students in Bristol County to attend college.
Dr. Douglas credits the college’s faculty and staff for embracing Bristol’s efforts to foster diversity, equity and inclusion while creating a college-going culture.
With a little less than a year before she steps down, Dr. Douglas says there is still work to be done, particularly in the area of making community college more affordable.
The college’s board of trustees is expected to begin the process of recruiting a new president sometime this spring.
