This Saturday Bristol Community College will celebrate its 57th Commencement Exercises under the college’s solar canopy at the Fall River campus.
Bristol President Dr. Laura Douglas says the event is the culmination of the hard work of everyone in the college community.
This year’s commencement ceremony will be bittersweet for President Douglas as it will be her last as president. She announced earlier this year her intention to retire from Bristol effective January 1st.
Aimee Rodrigues of North Dighton, graduating with a degree in Occupational Therapy, is this year’s valedictorian while Fall River resident and Business Administration graduate Ryan Ribeiro is this year’s salutatorian.
The college’s Distinguished Citizen Awards will be presented to former New Bedford Mayor John Bullard and longtime Bristol supporter Richard wolfson.
Maria Lawton, producer and host of PBS Maria’s Portuguese Table will receive the college’s Honorary Associate Degree in Humane Letters.
