Some 170 workers at the now closed Brayton Point Power Plant are now unemployed. The power plant officially closed it’s doors over Memorial Day weekend leaving the majority of workers bewildered and a bit confused on how to get another job, especially those who have worked at the plant for decades.
According to Director of the Fall River Career Center Joe Viana, 114 of those unemployed workers have registered for career services with his office at 446 North Main Street in an effort to get unemployment benefits that may be due them, as well as receive professional job counseling services to prepare them for a new employment path:
