Free helmets will be handed out to Fall River children who bring their bikes, scooters, or skateboards to a Bike Safety and Helmet Giveaway Day to take place from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Fonseca Elementary School.
Members of St. Anne’s Emergency Department will be on hand to give advice on riding bikes safely at the event, and MassBike, a statewide bicycle advocacy organization, will set up a Bike Rodeo to teach riding skills.
The event will also feature a small repair station for flat tires and bike safety inspections conducted by Bike Fall River, the Fall River Bicycle Committee. In addition, Safe Routes to School, a program of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, will offer bicycle accessories.
