A New York Man, having just robbed a bank, tried to escape in Fall River…and got lost.

Daniel Fernandes was arrested in the city’s Columbia Street neighborhood just after noon Thursday. Police caught up with the 25 year old New York man following a chase from the Bank 5 branch on Milford Road in Swansea into the Flint neighborhood in Fall River.

According to reports, Fernandes held up the Swansea branch bank at 12:19 p.m., and tried to escape police after the car he was driving was spotted heading east on Route 6 and then on Interstate 195 east. Officers found the abandoned car they were chasing, and caught the suspect while he was fleeing on foot.

Fernandes is facing the charge of armed robbery while masked, and motor vehicle violations in connection with the chase. He is expected to be arraigned in Fall River District Court. No injuries were reported.
