At tonight’s regular session of the Fall River City Council is expected to amend wording that will appear as a ballot question in the special election set for March 6th. The question asks registered voters whether they want to override Proposition Two and One-Half to help finance the construction of a new Durfee High School. Originally, the question had included the word “summary” but Board of Elections Chairwomen Elizabeth Camara asked for the re-wording since a summary would have required the ballot to include the pros and cons of the question. Camara does not expect city councilors to go against the request to reword the question.
Below is how Camara would like the question to appear before the city’s approximately 48 thousand registered voters:
Ballot 1
Should the City of Fall River be allowed to exempt from the provisions of Proposition two and one- half, so called, the amounts required to pay for the bonds issued in order to build a new B.M.C. Durfee High School of Fall River.
