The Fall River Police Department is currently recruiting and accepting applications for volunteer Auxiliary Police Officers.

The Division comprises 36 volunteer members who assist the Department with assignments from the Chief of Police and are on duty every week throughout the year. Duties are traffic control and direction at parades and processions.

In addition, the police auxiliary officers are involved in crime prevention and security details at community and charitable events. They also assist the Emergency Management Director of the City during emergencies.

Weekend availability is imperative and a minimum of 4 volunteer hours per week including a monthly meeting and training class is mandatory. Successful candidates must successfully complete the Auxiliary Police Officer Basic Training Program for recruits. Instruction will be classroom, field, and on job training. Upon appointment, equipment and uniforms are issued by the Department.

The training will be automated external defibrillator, baton, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, Department rules/regulations-polices/procedures, and organization, first-responder first aid, radio communications, report writing, patrol procedures, police vehicle operation, and traffic.
