The city-owned King Philip Mill complex on Killburn Street in Fall River will be auctioned on Thursday, June 22nd, and there is only one eligible bidder.
As the city’s custodian of tax possessions, City Administrator Cathy Ann Viveiros says, the minimum opening bid for the complex is $585 thousand dollars. That is the approximate amount the former owner needed to pay in back taxes when the city took over the property in the summer of 2014.
Viveiros had placed requirements that any potential bidder take a mandatory walk through of the 750,000-square-foot mill complex that occurred earlier this month and present their plans for the property to residents in a South End Neighborhood meeting scheduled last Thursday. The Chelmsford-based Paramount Development Group Corp., which had presented to the group previously, was the only company to comply with the requirements and, therefore, is the only qualified bidder.
The auction will take place at 10 a.m. in the Atrium at One Government Center.
