Massachusetts Congressmen Jake Auchincloss and William Keating, whose districts include Fall River, are hopeful the new session of the House will focus on meeting the needs of the American people.
Both men acknowledge that once President-elect Biden is inaugurated, the focus of Congress will shift to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Congressman Keating says more must be done to overcome the lapses in combatting the virus from the Trump administration.
Congressman Auchincloss added that economic recovery from the pandemic will hinge on aid to individuals, businesses, and state and local governments.
Along with making recovery from the pandemic a priority, Congressman Keating believes investments should be made with an eye toward job growth.
Congressman Auchincloss says his committee roles focusing on state and local infrastructure and housing will provide immediate support for his diverse district.
With slim Democratic party majorities in both the House and Senate, Congressman Keating believes there is an opportunity for members of Congress to reach bipartisan agreement on a wide range of bills.
