Fall River City Councilor Pam Laliberte was back in court today as attorneys argued her motion to have two felony charges of witness intimidation dismissed.
Laliberte was charged this summer by Westport police with misdemeanor harassment of the wife of a former lover and felony witness intimidation in misleading the police investigation.
Defense attorney Frank Camera says Westport police never established probable cause and evidence that Laliberte hindered the police investigation…and the publicity around the case played a role in the filing of the felony charges.
During the hearing, Camera invited attorneys for the Westport couple to publically state they were in approval of having the felony charges dropped.
District Court Judge Sabine Coyne is taking the motion to dismiss the felony charges under advisement and will render a decision before the next hearing in the case which is set for January 12.
