The Atlantis Charter School in Fall River officially launched its newest school-to-work academy today, with a concentration in emergency medical services (EMS).
Called the EMS Tritons Academy, the high school senior-focused, in-depth curriculum will prepare students, upon graduation, to either continue their education or enter the workforce.
Within the five school-to-career academies at Atlantis, the EMS Tritons Academy is an offshoot of its Health-Med Tech program.
Because of the intense academic and hands-on workload, entrance into the EMS Tritons Academy is limited to six students. Olivia Aguiar of Fall River is a member of the inaugural class.. She hopes to use the academy as a springboard to one day become a doctor.
Students within the academy work with local EMS entities to gain real-world emergency medical experience.
