Eversource, National Grid, the regional legislative delegation and Massachusetts-based junk removal Green Team Junk Removal are sponsoring recycling events in the region during the month of April.
An event was held last Saturday at the old Westport High School and the next event will be held this Saturday, April 13 from 10 am to 2 pm at Joseph Case Junior High School at 185 Main Street in Swansea. Residents will be allowed to dispose of electronics and appliances for a fee safely. Free furniture disposal is also accepted, some of which will be reused through a program with Habitat for Humanity. There will also be a collection of non-perishable food that will be donated to local food pantries.
Here is a list of what can be recycled at the event and the fees associated with disposal.
The event has been held for the last three years and helped residents dispose of unwanted large items while learning of energy-saving benefits provided by Eversource and National Grid.
