The 10th Annual Cake Show and Competition at Bristol Community College will be held this Saturday, April 1st. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,in the Commonwealth College Center (G-Building), on the BCC Fall River Campus at 777 Elsbree St.

Cake Show organizer Kristine Hastreiter, an adjunct faculty member of the Culinary Arts department at BCC says that for the first time ever attendees will be able to buy and eat cupcakes during the show. There will be a ‘pop up’ shop inside the competition where the cupcakes will be on sale.

The theme this year: “It’s All Fun and Games.” Professional, student, and novice entrants to the “Creative” segment of the competition can draw their inspiration from board games, card games, puzzles, casino games, Jenga, croquet, and even lawn darts, according to Hastreiter.

So far two dozen competitors have signed up for the competition with some coming as far away as Connecticut, New Hampshire, and other parts of New England.

Admission prices are $10 for adults (age 10 and older); $5 for children; and children under age 2 are admitted free of charge. Free parking is available on campus.

The annual BCC Cake Show and Competition is a fundraiser for BCC/SkillsUSA, a nonprofit organization that helps high school and college students train for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations.
