The City Council’s Ordinance & Legislation Subcommittee is slated to meet Tuesday, February 16th. On the agenda…whether to approve a proposed ordinance to create a City Building’s Department position. Currently, Department of Community Maintenance Director Ken Pachecco is working in that capacity since his contract with the city has expired on December 31st, 2015, even though his current role has not yet garnered city council approval.

Mayor Jasiel Correia, in his efforts to reorganize city government, is in the process of dividing the DCM into three subcategories, thus eliminating some of the work Pachecco currently handles.

If the ordinance goes through, then Mayor Correia says he will appoint Pachecco to the new position with a $15 thousand dollar pay cut, leaving Pachecco working for approximately $98 thousand dollars a year.

Tuesday’s meeting will take place at the City Council Chambers at Government Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
