The Amazon warehouse that is expected to open later this month has been awarded a temporary permit to move furniture and other items into its 1.2 million square foot facility located in the Southcoast Life Sciences and Technology Park.
The temporary certificate of occupancy was awarded by Director of Inspectional Services for the city Joseph Biszko.
Trammel Crow, a real estate development company, built the warehouse on a 77-acre lot that straddles the Fall River- Freetown line. The facility was built to Amazon’s specifications and will be leased to the company.
Five hundred employees from the greater Fall River area have been hired on a full-time basis with benefits to sort and send out various packages of different sizes from the facility once it opens its doors September 21st.
