A Top Official At Housing Authority To Retire

Donna Motta April 12, 2017 Comments Off on A Top Official At Housing Authority To Retire

The city of Fall River will soon need a new Fall River Housing Authority Executive Director since David Sullivan has decided to retire.

Sullivan officially retired during a meeting with the FRHA Board of Commissioners earlier this week. He says he is looking forward to the upcoming new chapter in his life, and plans to pursue his interests and spend time with family.

During the same meeting commissioners appointed acting Deputy Executive Director Timothy Barrow as the interim executive director. Meanwhile, Mayor Jasiel Correia ascertains that in two weeks an alternative interim executive director will be named. Correia says he will be heavily involved in the hiring process and plans to work with the commissioners and the state to find a suitable replacement. The mayor also says  he wants someone in the position who can carry out changes in housing and Section 8 policy, beautify the Housing Authority’s properties, and work with the Fall River Police Department.

Sullivan had served in the post since the FRHA Board of Commissioners appointed him in January of 2013 under former Mayor Will Flanagan. Sullivan’s effective retirement date will be April 30th, although his official last day of work will be tomorrow, Thursday, April 13.
