A No Kill Animal Shelter Takes In City Strays

Lost dogs and cats in the city of Fall River used to be transported by animal control officers out of town for shelter. That is no longer the case. Forever Paws, a no kill animal shelter located at 300 Lynwood street, is now taking in the strays. The shelter was the only organization that bid for the three-year shelter contract through a request for proposals during a recent bid opening.

While Fall River Animal Control Supervisor Cindy Berard was excited to hear the news about a shelter back in the city, she is also grateful for the Southcoast Humane Society in Darmouth for their years of servicing her department saying, “They’ve been very good to us.”

The contract with the Dartmouth-based facility expires June 30th, but it may take a few weeks to complete the transfer. Meanwhile, for updates on which pets are up for adoption, tune into our FRC Media News program aired each Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m., and repeated on Friday, at the same time.
