The Board of Directors of the Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc today voted to change the name of the organization to the Bristol County Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
The name change came in response to what the board feels are shifts in the business demographics of the region which has impacted its member businesses.
“The name Bristol County Chamber of Commerce embraces the reality that the businesses within the service area of the Chamber have evolved. The needs of businesses in the Fall River metro region have also changed. Many of today’s local businesses frequently reach out to Providence, Newport County and northward to Boston. I see this trend in my own business activities. A Bristol County Chamber of Commerce meets the needs of today’s businesses,” said Brian LeComte, Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors.
The change was also made following internal polling of board members and select business representatives.
More will information will be released tomorrow at a 4:00 p.m. press conference at the Chamber’s headquarters on Pocasset Street.
